Highway 60 Detour to 63

Highway 60 Detour onto Highway 63 is a decent alternative
I was looking forward to taking Highway 60 out of Zumbrota to Wabasha because it’s one of the best motorcycle roads in Minnesota. So I took off from Zumbrota and it is a good warm up to the main event – Zumbro Falls to Wabasha. It is an awesome road. Well, it has incredible curves and hills. It has not been a good road for a while now and hopefully that’s why I encountered the detour in Zumbro Falls. According to MNDOT the road will be resurfaced by the end of June.
Anyway, I got stuck taking the detour. And it wasn’t too bad. It just wasn’t as good as 60. I took 60 two years ago and the road was in terrible condition, so the detour sign was a bit of welcome news since they’ll be fixing it.
At Zumbro Falls detours motorists onto Highway 63 to Lake City. It is still a nice ride with a little bit of country scenery and some long, sweeping curves. So not all was lost by taking that route.
The road is in great condition and Lake City is a good town to stop for gas or a bite to eat.
The Bottom Line
Feel free to take the detour if you get to Zumbro Falls. But otherwise wait for Highway 60 to reopen.
