Plenty of the same thing over and over for 60 miles with little traffic makes for a peaceful ride
The Beach Road Run runs parallel with the Montana border on the western edge of North Dakota. The big sky of Montana leaks into North Dakota and frames the curves and hills on this run. This run is desolate. There aren’t any gas stations or convenience stores for the 60-mile ride. It’s out in the great wide open. And the road is mostly all yours.
The Road
From Beach, North Dakota drive north on North Dakota 16. It’s as simple as that. The road comes to a T at ND 68 and then you get to decide which way you want to go from there. The road is in good shape.
The Ride
The Beach Road Run is a mixture of long straightaways and sweeping curves through the rolling hills of western North Dakota. The curves are satisfying and the straightaways give you time to gaze across the ocean of sky and green hills. And then you repeat that for 60 miles. The run is relaxing. It’s enough fun to make you smile and stretch out your bike a little bit. It isn’t a highly traveled road, so you’ll mostly have the road to yourself.
The Bottom Line
The Beach Road Run is a nice part of a day of riding. You could easily make a day out of taking a few select rides in western North Dakota. The Beach Road Run is a relaxing addition to your day of riding.
