Eureka Springs to Jasper offers a chance to experience the Ozarks at highway speeds
The twisty roads are awesome. Don’t get me wrong here. Downshifting, upshifting, measuring curves, speeding up, slowing down is great. It’s a different kind of riding. It takes stamina and skill.
The Eureka Springs to Jasper ride offers excellent Ozark Mountain scenery, but you can ride at highway speeds. It was refreshing to open up the throttle and make the corners at speed. It felt good. I know I’m supposed to say that the twisty, crooked and steep roads are the best, but the road to Jasper was refreshing.
Take 23 south out of Eureka to 74 and cut across to Boxley. Then turn north on 43 to Ponca and back on 74 heading east to Jasper.
Highway 23 and 74 to Boxley have a lot of nice curves and, like I mentioned above, the speed limit is mostly 55 along the way. Then there are a steep climb and descent around Ponca, so the last leg of the ride has some of the slower paced fun stuff included. You get the best of both types of riding on this particular ride.
The Bottom Line
It’s tough to tell someone to not ride any of the roads around the Ozarks. Everything is pretty awesome. Get off your ass and ride.
