Eureka Springs Loop
Take Highway 23 north out of Eureka Springs. Drive through the historic downtown, head 4.6 miles north and turn onto 187 south (you’re actually going to head northwest and west before you go south). Follow 187 to 62 east. Take a short jaunt on 62 and continue on 187 south. That will take you on a loop that takes you past Beaver Dam and take you back to 62 just west of Eureka Springs. The roads are in fairly good shape and the speeds average 45-55 mph.
The road winds through woods that at times makes you feel like you are way out in the backwoods in the middle of nowhere. The trees are close to the edge of the road and you’ll encounter a couple of one-lane bridges on the section north of 62. The curves meander through the woods and past the dam and then opens up on the way back to 62.
The Bottom Line
There’s nothing particularly challenging about this ride and that makes it a great ride. There are chances to open up and take some sweeping curves at 45 or 55 mph. The riding in the Ozarks offers several different riding opportunities to experience the scenery in northwest Arkansas.
